On January 25, 2021, the Sixth Circuit Judicial Council approved the Western District of Kentucky’s amended CJA Plan. The amended CJA Plan, which is based largely on the Model CJA Plan adopted by the Administrative Office of United States Courts, replaces the Court’s 2014 CJA Plan, and incorporates a number of updates and changes. Many of those updates and changes involve the CJA Panels.
Pursuant to Section VI of the amended CJA Plan, the Court will set aside the current CJA Panel in each division and establish new panels effective August 1, 2021. The Court will accept applications for membership on each CJA Panel from March 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021 and anticipates having an open application period during the month of March each year thereafter.
Attorneys interested in being appointed to a CJA panel must submit their application via email to CJA_Application@kywd.uscourts.gov. No application should be submitted prior to March 1, and no application received after March 31 shall be accepted without consent of the Chief Judge. All applicants must meet the qualifications set forth in Section VII(C) of the Court’s Criminal Justice Act Plan. For more information, please visit the Court’s CJA page.
