The United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky will be closed for Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, 2024 as this is a legal public holiday pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 6103. In extended observance of the established Independence Day holiday, the United States District Court Clerk’s Office will be closed on Friday, July 5, 2024.  In the event of a litigation-related emergency during this period, please refer to the Clerk’s Office’s After Hours Emergency Filing Procedures.   The public is reminded that electronic filing will be available through the Court’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system during this closure. 

Please note that July 5 does not qualify as a “holiday” for purposes of calculating time under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Please refer to Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(a)(6).
